‘Digital Strike’ against China

Beijing cut off access to Indian newspapers and websites just hours after 59 Chinese apps, including the short-lived video-sharing platform TikTok was banned in India. No Indian media website can be seen in China without a Virtual Private Network (VPN) server. Access to Indian websites has been blocked since Tuesday, according to news agencies. However, despite India shutting down the Chinese app, no restrictions have yet been imposed on Chinese sites. As a result, Chinese sites are being accessed in India. However, despite the closure of websites, Indian TV channels are still accessible through IP TV.  Express VPN has not been working on desktops and iPhones in the communist state for the past two days. People have to use virtual private networks (VPNs). On Monday (June 29), the center banned a total of 59 mobile apps, including TickTock, UC Browser, Share-It, Wi-Chat, CamScanner. Which has been referred to as the ‘digital strike’ against China?

Communications and Information Technology (India) Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad demanded that the decision be taken under Section 69A of the Act to ensure the security, unity, security, and sovereignty of India and the security of information of the people of this country. The announcement comes in the wake of the Sino-Indian conflict on the eastern Ladakh border. The number of users of the banned apps is huge in India. TickTock alone has more than 100 million users. There have been repeated allegations in the recent past that China collects information through these apps. Popular apps like TickTock have occasionally been accused of having an adverse effect on society. However, without the ban of a few days, the widely used Chinese app has not been touched for so long. According to the Indian Ministry of Information Technology, Indian intelligence has said that mobile apps on Android and iOS platforms are being used to try to infringe on the privacy of consumers. That is why this decision is considered from all angles. After realizing this drastic step in India, China became restless.

On behalf of the Foreign Ministry, Zhao Lijian said, "China is deeply concerned after learning of the incident. On the night of 15 June, 20 Indian soldiers were killed in a clash in the Galway Valley in eastern Ladakh. Indo-China relations have deteriorated due to that conflict.
